THE CHRIST AND CULTURE COALITION
seeks to lead the family of Christ Community Church in moving out into the world as "salt" and "light" for Christ! We do not preach a different gospel. Our gospel is not a political gospel, a social gospel, or a "cultural relevance" gospel. It is the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. An important part of our mission is to train our church in Biblical evangelism.
We accomplish the work of the Christ and Culture Coalition by
The Mobilization Team
Scott Craycraft, Team Leader
This team helps us identify God's priorities for the "salt and light" ministries of Christ Community Church. These members of the Coalition work in the areas of strategy and community relations (how we can expand the reach of the gospel of Jesus Christ). While this team helps us identify the right context for our gospel ministry. This team regularly sets off the "dynamite" under the rest of us, and this is best achieved by prayer for God's direction and passion.
The Education Team
Eileen Moore, Team Leader
This team keeps our congregation regularly informed in regard to These Coalition members are used of God to build into our church a comprehensive Christian "worldview" (the knowledge of how our faith can be lived out within specific spheres of cultural influence). This includes practical training opportunities for our church family, as well as events that engage our unbelieving neighbors and friends.
The Service Team
Dave Wicker, Team Leader
This team helps involve the members of our community of faith in loving and serving those around us, in ways that honor Jesus Christ. We refer to some of these efforts as "pre-evangelism" - because the Lord uses them to create opportunities in which Christ's gospel can be shared with those burdened by life's challenges and hurts. We give a cup of water in Christ's name (Matthew 10:42) in creative ways that move our congregation out into the world for Christ's ministry.
"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden."
Jesus Matthew 5:14
"Christ is much more powerful to save, than Adam was to destroy."
John Calvin commenting on Romans 5:15 “It is exceedingly strange that any followers of Jesus Christ should ever have needed to ask whether social involvement was their concern, and that controversy should have blown up over the relationship between evangelism and social responsibility. For it is evident that in his public ministry Jesus both ‘went about teaching and preaching’ (Matthew 4:23; 9:35) and ‘went about doing good and healing’ (Acts 10:38). In consequence, evangelism and social concern have been intimately related to one another throughout the history of the Church. Christian people have often engaged in both activities quite unselfconsciously, without feeling any need to define what they were doing or why.” Involvement "There needs to be infiltration into our communities - identification with our communities rather than isolation from our communities. For there can be no significant impact without significant contact. We need to get close enough to people to make shouting unnecessary." Pastor Alistair Begg on the subject of evangelism
