Growing up in Cyprus, my mom was the greatest influence on my Christian walk. After graduating from Biola University last year, I moved back home with the hopes of finding a new home church. My husband, Max Beattie, was in the process of applying to local church positions in Southern California and decided to apply for the Junior High Director position at Christ Community Church. After visiting a few times, it was clear this was the church where God was leading us. One of the first things I noticed was the depth and quality of sound biblical teaching Pastor Ric spoke with. This coupled with the welcoming and warm community encouraged both of us to become members of this church.
I believe sound biblical teaching and a strong sense of community are important qualities people should look for when finding a local church. In order to become a part of the community, I began volunteering as a 2nd/3rd grade Sunday school teacher. Through the Children’s Ministry, I was able to grow in my understanding of what it truly means to serve within the body of Christ. Currently I am serving as the junior high girls’ leader which has been such fun. I enjoy leading and hanging out with the junior high girls and being able to mentor and guide them in their walk with the Lord. This opportunity has been great encouragement in my life right now because of the quality time spent with these amazing girls. I look forward to how God will continue to use me at my home here at CCC. One verse that has been particularly important in my life right now has been 1 Peter 5:7, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because he cares for you.”
