My name is Debbie Wilemon. My husband Clay and I have 4 adult children, Austin 27, Tyler 25, Kyle 23 and Andrea 21 and have been attending Christ Community Church for about 2.5 years.
Growing up in New Jersey in a tight knit Italian-American neighborhood where most everyone was either Catholic or Jewish, I assumed I was a Christian –after all, I was born catholic, went to church and lived a pretty good life as long as it was convenient. Clay, the single most influential person in my Christian life convinced me differently. Through his gentle teaching I learned that I needed to accept Jesus as my Savior. I am so grateful for God’s grace and mercy and forgiving my sin. I still fail daily, but praise God He forgives me and gives me another day to bring Him glory.
CCC is a warm and friendly environment. It is evident that the people love God and each other The leadership and teaching elders present and teach the gospel line by line, verse by verse with truth in love. Currently I serve on the women’s board as well as manage the kitchen supplies. My most rewarding ministry is teaching 4th-6th grade Sunday School with Clay each Sunday.
One of my favorite bible verses is Proverbs 3:5. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct your paths”. I want to trust God more and not my self-proclaimed wisdom; if God doesn’t want it for me, it’s not worth having.
