WELCOME…to the 22nd annual Christ Community Church Men’s Retreat. This event has become our annual weekend getaway where the men of the church, and their sons or guests can connect with Christ and each other. The pace and tone are deliberately relaxed but purposeful. We plan to gather for solid biblical teaching, worship, camping, recreation in the form of Golf, Fly Fishing, Mountain Biking, Surfing, Hiking, Horseshoes, Bocce Ball, or just hang out and enjoy fellowship with other guys. (Note: there is a state entrance fee each day if you are not planning to camp). Please read over the event information outlined below. It’s our hope and prayer that you will be encouraged and strengthened in your walk with God as you join with us this weekend!

The weekend is designed as an opportunity for you to be encouraged and uplifted as we worship under the stars, study God’s Word, and participate in interactive discussion. Our theme is “Staying the Course” – Practical Lessons from Hebrews Chapter 12. Our own pastors Jordan Cedeno, Jesus Cantu, and Tim Thetford will discuss how to apply God’s Word to successfully navigate the course that God has called each of us to live out to His glory. It has become a Men’s Retreat tradition to end our time together on Sunday morning with Worship and Communion on the beach.
We have several recreational group activities available. We have a Golfing group who are planning to tee off on Friday afternoon. (contact Bill Temple at 949-939-8288 billctemple@gmail.com for details). We have a group planning to mountain bike the nearby trails on Saturday. (for more information contact Barry Lowe 949-292-1884). We will have opportunities for Bocce Ball, Trail (slow) Running, Hiking, and Corn Hole.
We are offering a Men’s Retreat Exclusive Saltwater Fly Fishing Clinic. A complimentary three- hour lesson of certified instruction provided by the Guy Jeans School of Fly Fishing. This is provided at no additional cost but you must sign up early (prior to the retreat) as SPACE IS LIMITED! All Participants must purchase a one-day California Fishing License to participate. All necessary equipment is provided. Flies may be purchased the day of the clinic for a nominal price. Participants are assigned to either the morning or afternoon class. You may contact Larry Wheeland for further details.
All food is provided. There will be five meals served at the retreat. Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus Sunday breakfast. There will also be snacks and drinks available throughout the weekend. Please note that we are unable to accommodate special diet requirements.
Campers will be assigned specific campsites. If you have not received your site information, contact Larry Wheeland (wheeldogger@yahoo.com) 949-282-4891 or Tony Heller (tonyhllr@gmail.com) 949-697-8338. Campers may check-in and set up their tents beginning at 2:00pm on Friday. If you arrive for check-In earlier than 2:00PM, the park rangers will turn you away.
Campsites are assigned: you will receive an email with your assigned campsite the first week of May (or prior). Please make note of your respective campsite assignment. You will need to inform the Park Ranger of your campsite number when you arrive. On most of our reserved campsites there will be one or two additional tent campers from our group. The park allows a maximum of three cars, 3 tents, and 8 people per campsite. If you are the first to arrive to your site, please be considerate and leave room for additional vehicles. The entry fee for the first camper to check-In on each respective campsite has been pre-paid when we reserved the sites. IF YOU ARE THE SECOND OR THIRD CAMPER TO ARRIVE AT YOUR SITE, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY $30.00. YOUR CAMPING CHARGE IS INCLUDED AND YOU WILL BE REIMBURSED. After you park on your site, please check-In with us at our Base Campsite #135 and see Tony Heller for reimbursement and your name tag.
Non-campers may arrive any time on Friday and throughout the weekend. However, YOU MUST PARK IN THE DAY-USE AREA, YOU CANNOT PARK IN THE CAMPGROUND AREA. Just follow the signs to the general parking area located near the beach trailheads. There is a daily parking fee of $15.00 which is NOT pre-paid and will NOT be reimbursed by the church. It is a short walk over to our Base Camp (Site #135) and Worship Meeting Camp (Site #157). Note: We are NOT at the group site that we occupied last year.
If you are camping then bring all your necessary gear (or a friend with a tent). Everyone should bring a Bible, beach chair, and a flashlight. It can get cool in the evening so dress accordingly!
We encourage you to commit to attending and participating in as much of our activities as possible. This is a great time to become more acquainted with men of our church and catch up on old friendships. However, your retreat schedule is up to you (and The Lord) as well as the demands of your family and work life. We are excited that you will be a part of our event!
Remember that we will be a witness for God at the campground. Please show the love of Christ as we interact with our campground neighbors throughout the weekend. Please be gracious and considerate toward other campers, Rangers, and Park Staff.
The Men’s Retreat is also a time to personally connect with God and other men on the church. Please be praying for the worship, teaching, and fellowship. We also encourage you to pray that God’s Spirit will work in your heart and mind to prepare you. May you have “eyes to see and ears to hear” as we consider together how to “run with endurance the course that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith.”
